Strategies to improve your impact section in relation to what is already funded in the area, the difference between impact and significance, the best wording choices to improve reception of impact, finding a balance between creativity and feasibility, what the new NIH scoring system tells you about your grant.

A key aspect of any grant writing is be to as clear as possible, avoid jargon, reread “elements of style” once a year, I use the expression “just say it” a lot when I critique grants, the writer needs to let the reader see the thinking process—don’t cloud your words—try to make the reader see your mind—this is a hard thing, but if you do, your chances improve.
